Apple’s 2018 smartphone lineup is now official with the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. The tech company announced its new smartphones and a new Apple Watch 4 model at Apple Park in Cupertino, California Wednesday.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are the standard models, which will be available for preorder starting September 14 and will release Setepmber 21. The iPhone XS is the smallest, with a 5.8-inch display and a starting price of $999. The iPhone XS Max is the largest iPhone to date with a 6.5-inch display and starting price of $1099. The devices will be available in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray color options.
The iPhone XR will be available for pre-order starting October 19 and will release October 26. It features a 6.1-inch display and has a starting price of $749. The device will be available in Red, Yellow, White, Coral, Black, and Blue color options.
Carriers and retailers
In addition to availability through Apple, the new iPhones will be available through a number of mobile carriers and retailers including T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, MetroPCS, Xfinity Mobile, and Walmart. Many carriers and retailers may have their own price variants and payment plans for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
Deals
T-Mobile is offering customers $300 toward the price of an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR when trading in an older iPhone. The carrier notes that customers will get at least $100 when trading in a device that is in good and working order.
Verizon is offering customers $700 off a second iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus when purchasing two iPhone models with on a payment plan and activating a new service line.
The carrier is also offering at least $100 when trading in an old device for an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus.
Other Verizon deals include $100 off an iPad or $50 any Apple Watch on a payment plan with the purchase of an iPhone on a payment plan. Customers can also get 25% certain Beats products with the iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch or 25% certain Beats products when subscribing to Verizon’s Apple Music option.
Xfinity Mobile is offering new customers $300 when purchasing an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR, opening a line, and transferring a number from an old carrier.
Other availability details
AT&T and Sprint have not yet divulged pricing details for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, but will open preorders on their designated dates.
MetroPCS is not offering pre-orders for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR but the devices will be available in stores on their designated launch dates.
Walmart has not confirmed or guaranteed availability for the iPhone XR due to it not yet being authorized for sale by the FCC.
