“Which Samsung smartphones are getting the Android Pie update?”

Samsung is really making moves to get several of its devices updated to Android Pie. Reports indicate that models including the Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9 and S9+, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, and even the Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition have been certified for Android Pie by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Such certifications are a good sign that system updates are near since manufacturers such as Samsung send their software updates to devices via wireless transfer.

Samsung has not confirmed specific rollout dates for Android Pie but has noted it plans to begin official updates in January 2019. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are now eligible for the One UI beta program, which comes with Android Pie. Users that want to experience both Samsung’s new interface and the latest Android system can sign up for the program.

Often, leaks from mobile carriers will surface with a more detailed release schedule for software updates. With the Galaxy S9 already in a public beta for the latest software, it will likely update to Android Pie first, followed by the Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, and then the Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition. The U.S., Korea, and Germany are expected to be among the first markets to send out official Android Pie updates.
