While all eyes have been on Samsung’s foldable phone for several weeks, the Korean manufacturer is still working on its next early-year flagship device, the Galaxy S10. In addition to some highlight features, such as an in-display fingerprint scanner, the upcoming tenth-anniversary model may include some beefy internal specs, possibly to support new technology it may feature.
Recent reports suggest at least one Galaxy S10 model may include 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. If true, this would be the largest storage capacity on a Samsung smartphone to date, surpassing the premium tier Galaxy Note 9 model, which features 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. This Galaxy S10 model may be the one rumored to support 5G connectivity, and would likely need more power to support the new data standard.
Some also suggest this could be the Galaxy S10 Plus model, as Samsung often designates its Plus models to have more advanced hardware. The manufacturer’s upcoming flagship could release in up to four unique models, including a standard Galaxy S10, a Galaxy S10 Plus, a Galaxy S10 5G model, and a Galaxy S10 budget model with truncated specs. Galaxy S10 models numbers including SM-G970x, SM-G973x, and SM-G973x have already been certified in Russia, according to SamMobile.
More recent Galaxy S10 specs
Details about the Galaxy S10 continue to trickle in as its release date approaches. The device recently surfaced on the Antutu benchmark, revealing specs including an Exynos 9820 processor and Mali-G76 GPU, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, a 2280×1080 display resolution, Android 9 Pie. Some claim the specs coincide with the Galaxy S10 Plus; however, no details have been confirmed. Consumers can also expect a version of the Galaxy S10 with the Snapdragon 8150 chip, which will be announced next week at Qualcomm’s annual tech summit.

Galaxy S10 camera rumors
Some camera rumors suggest that the Galaxy S10 may have different lens configurations depending on the model. Its standard model may feature a dual-lens rear camera and a single-lens front camera set up, while the Galaxy S10 Plus and other more premium options may feature a triple-lens rear camera and a dual-lens front camera set up.
Samsung has made camera distinctions on different flagship models before, having released the standard Galaxy S9 with a single rear lens and the Galaxy S9 Plus with a dual-lens setup. Samsung has already tested a quad-lens camera system on its latest mid-range Galaxy A9 model and a triple-lens set up on the Galaxy A7. A swift transition to the high-end S series is plausible.
Still, Samsung has remained quite conservative with its camera technology in recent years, focusing more on software improvements than adding lens or megapixels to its flagship handsets. The Galaxy Note 9 released with a dual-lens set up in September, just ahead of the onslaught of Android devices that launched with three or more lenses in their main cameras.
Just because the 2018 Galaxy A9 and Galaxy A7 have shown Samsung’s camera prowess doesn’t mean the manufacturer will necessarily feel the need to show off on the Galaxy S10. With extensive display features expected for the device, Samsung may similarly leave the camera system simple, in an “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” kind of way.
Galaxy S10 Infinity display production
Samsung is also reportedly now producing one of its new infinity displays for the Galaxy S10, in particular, the Infinity-O. This display would give the device a single cut out for a front camera and is one of Samsung’s answers to the top-notch for making a no-bezel display. There have also been reports that Samsung may use its New Infinity display for the Galaxy S10, which has no cutouts or notches on the front panel.
If true, the Galaxy S10 may feature an in-display fingerprint scanner and its front-facing camera or cameras embedded under the display. For a while, it seemed as if Samsung was resisting the top-notch trend, with the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy Note 9 simply releasing with thinner-bezels while most top manufacturers opted for a notch.
However, Samsung has introduced the Infinity-U and Infinity-V displays, in addition to the Infinity-O, leaving its final decision on displays up in the air until devices are actually released. In addition to making its own smartphones, Samsung also supplies components, including displays to other devices makers. This could mean the manufacturer may have stakes in the notch trend even if they don’t go on Samsung devices.
