“New wireless charging feature expected for Samsung Galaxy S10”

A recent report suggests that the Galaxy S10 may include a wireless charging feature that enables it to charge other devices.

Gizmodo U.K. has shared several rumors about Samsung’s upcoming flagship and among them was a mention that the device may have a feature called Powershare. While there were no further details about the feature, Gizmodo did suggest it could be similar to a feature on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro that is described as reverse wireless charging.

After turning the feature on in settings, Mate 20 Pro users can place smartphones or other electronic devices on top of their handsets to enable wireless charging. In everyday use charging other smartphones seems like a stretch, but it would likely make be a good option for charging smaller accessories, like wireless headphones.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack but there are currently conflicting rumors about whether the Galaxy S10 will have the feature. So far Samsung has retained the audio jack on its flagship devices, as most other premium device makers have removed the port.

There are hints that Samsung may keep its headphone jack for another year. Still, Samsung does have its own brand of smart wireless headphones, the Samsung Icon X. While their case serves as a charging pack, even that option can potentially run low for heavy users.

A report from the Wall Street Journal also suggests that all three rumored models of the Galaxy S10 may include this Powershare feature. The device is expected to release in a budget-friendly Galaxy S10 Lite model, a standard Galaxy S10 model, and a Galaxy S10 Plus model.

Rumors indicate the Galaxy S10 may be announced on February 20, 201,9 and release to market on March 8, 2019. Currently, no details about the Galaxy S10 have been confirmed.
