HTC’s latest push to keep its mobile business alive are two new mid-range devices just announced in Taiwan. The smartphone maker unveiled Tuesday, the HTC U19e and the HTC Desire 19+ with sub-$500 price tags and features that are mostly standard on currently released devices.
The HTC U19e adopts a naming scheme like the Samsung Galaxy S10e and the Google Pixel 3a. The device features a 6.0-inch OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 3,930mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support, though the device will ship with a Quick Charge 3.0 charger. The device will be available June 12 in Taiwan, selling for NT$ 14,900 or approximately $475.
The HTC U19e camera set up includes dual lenses for both rear and phone. The main camera features a 12-megapixel standard lens with f/1.8 aperture and a 20-megapixel 2x telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. The front-facing camera features a 24-megapixel lens with f/2.0 aperture and a 2-megapixel iris scanner to enable face recognition.
Color options include Modest Green and Extraordinary Purple, the latter which features a patch of transparent simulation of the back panel, giving the illusion that you can see the inside of the phone. The device also includes a rear-facing capacitive fingerprint sensor.
Some other interesting features include an immersive mode for gaming and HDR 10 playback for YouTube.
The HTC Desire Desire 19+ is surely positioned for Asian and European markets with its release expected for early-July.
The device features a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a teardrop notch housing a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, a MediaTek Helio P35 chip, 4GB and 6GB RAM options, 64GB and 128GB internal storage options, and a 3,850mAh battery.
The HTC Desire Desire 19+ has a triple-lens set up for its main camera, including a 13-megapixel standard lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide angle lens, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.
Color options include Star Can Blue and Jasmine White. The device also features a rear-facing capacitive fingerprint sensor.
When available the HTC Desire Desire 19+ 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model will sell for NT$ 9,990 or approximately $318 and the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model will sell for NT$ 10,990.
