Apple has unveiled the AirPods Pro as its latest premium product, which will be available starting October 30. While the tech giant clearly intends its new wireless earbuds to be taken seriously by users that desire the highest quality audio features, the new product has not escaped now commonplace internet trolling.
Not long after Apple unveiled the AirPods Pro on its product site Monday, media and enthusiasts quickly got to work drafting up funny memes to poke fun of the earbuds’ new design. Airpods have now been compared to Birdo from the Mario universe and the Pokemon, Bellsprout.
For a more retro reference, the AirPods have also been compared to the plant from the movie, Little Shop of Horrors.
Some have also noted that the sole white color option that will be available for AirPods Pro likely won’t fare well against earwax.
Never the less, the AirPods Pro do include features that have already impressed many, including Active Noise Cancellation, a Transparency mode that allows users to easily decipher their music from the surrounding noise, Adaptive EQ, and small, medium, and large custom-fit ear tips.
The AirPods Pro are powered by Apple’s proprietary H1 chip, which controls several of their new audio functions. They are rated IPX4 for sweat and water resistance and support Qi Wireless charging through their carrying case. Battery life allows for 4.5 hours of listening time and up to 24 hours of additional power in the charging case, with a five-minute charge adding approximately one hour of listening time.
The AirPods Pro also supports “Hey Siri” commands, and includes a force sensor, which allows users to control functions, such as changing music, answering calls, and switching between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes.
One thing that many aren’t laughing at is the definitely premium price of the AirPods Pro. The earbuds will sell for $249 (lb249), with preorders currently available and delivery times currently set between November 5 and 7.
