An extremely useful feature, which debuted on the Google Pixel 4 is now available for older Pixel smartphones. Users are now able to download and install the Google Recorder app for the Pixel 2, Pixel 3, and Pixel 3a models from the Play Store.
The AI-powered Google Recorder app can transcribe recorded audio in real-time and allows users to search for audio using text keywords from a recording. Many have noted the feature would especially be beneficial for journalists, students, and anyone who requires fast dictation.
The update first surfaced Wednesday as a sideload option, however, Google has now officially expanded the availability of the feature. It was exclusive to the Pixel 4 at launch, however, Google noted its plans to eventually make the app available across the Pixel line. The original Pixel models, are unfortunately out of their update timeline, having received their last security patches just days prior to this rollout.
