“TCL at CES 2020: Audio products highlight sound improvement”

Las Vegas — TCL kicked off its CES 2020 with a press conference showcasing a host of products, including its upcoming smartphone lineup. It also revealed its further integration into the audio space, announcing the Alto 9+ Soundbar prototype, the “ACTV” and “SOCL” models of truly wireless headphones, and the ACTV Heart Rate Monitoring and Zone Training headphones.

TCL aims to showcase its latest audio technology with this new lineup, which includes a design for an ideal fit for the headphones and an updated speaker layout for the soundbar.

TCL Alto 9+ Soundbar

The Alto 9+ Soundbar prototype revamps the traditional linear soundbar design with backward tilted side speakers that TCL calls RAY-DANZ Technology. The unique shape and placement of these speakers allow for acoustic and peripheral sound so reach content consumers, wherever they are in a room. The front-firing speaker focuses on speech and dialogue, while the wireless subwoofer focuses on bass, maximized by Dolby Atmos.

The Alto 9+ Soundbar is also Roku TV Ready and able to automatically configure with any Roku enabled smart TV. Users can also control sound and different audio modes directly from the Roku TV remote, erasing the need to search for the actual TV remote if users want to shift from a music audio mode to a movie audio mode, for example.

TCL ACTV500TWS and SOCL500TWS Truly Wireless Headphones

TCL’s ACTV and SOCL Bluetooth 5.0 supported headphones introduce a new ergonomic design to their buds for a more ideal fitting inside of user’s ears. The brand claims its research has uncovered that an oval shape for earbuds is more fitting with the general shape of the average person’s ear. Most other truly wireless earbuds feature round design, which doesn’t easily remain in a user’s ears, making it easy for buds to fall and get lost.

To maximize its new technological development, TCL has introduced the ACTV500TWS earbuds, for active users. The buds feature a true grip memory foam to further ensure that they remain in user’s ears. They also feature bass-centric 6mm speakers and an IPX7 rated waterproof casing. Their quick charging case can add up to an hour of playtime in a 15-minute charge, with the case able to support up to 33 hours of playback time total.

The SOCL500TWS earbuds are designed with a modern style in mind, featuring a blend of purple, blue, orange, and black color options for their semi-transparent cases. They also feature 5.8mm speaker drivers and a IPX4 rated sweat and splash-proof casing, as well as up to 26-hours playback time.

ACTV200B Heartrate Monitoring Headphones

The ACTV200B heart rate monitoring headphones utilize a non-contact ‘ActivHearts’ sensing technology that accounts for anomalies sound on more traditional sensors, such as not properly reading user’s heart rates if they have darker skin tones. The technology uses infrared LEDs and various other sensors to detect blood flow from within a user’s ear. This is can aid in a more accurate heart rate reading. For audio, the headphones feature 8.6mm speaker drivers and passive noise isolation. For active function, they feature an IPX4 rating for sweat and splash resistance.
