“Google Pixel 4a name surfaces amid early 2020 mid-range device rumors”

Details about Google’s 2020 mid-range Pixel devices are starting to surface and indicate that there will likely be at least three models, codenamed sunfish, redfin, and bramble. The codenames were previously discovered in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). In particular, the sunfish model is expected to be the Google Pixel 4a.

Mishaal Rahman of XDA Developers has determined that this model may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chip. If true, this would be a good indication that this model won’t support 5G connectivity. However, with two other models expected for release, there could potentially be a 5G powered device in the Pixel 4a line.

Prior reports suggested the redfin and bramble models have been tested with the Snapdragon 765 chip, Qualcomm’s new mid-range chip, which will also support 5G. Currently, there aren’t any definitive details known about the other models. We can assume that one model may be the Pixel 4a XL, but the third model is still unidentified. More details about the potential 5G devices are sure to surface in the coming weeks.

Google will likely showcase its new mobile hardware at its I/O conference in early May, giving ample time for more leaks and rumors to solidify.

There are already a handful of details known about the standard Pixel 4a, having previously been reported by @OnLeaks. This model may feature a 5.7-inch to 5.8-inch display with a single hole-punch, a USB-C port, a single rear camera, a rear fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
