Original Report
Huawei is set to announce its latest flagship series on March 26, which will include the P40 Pro and the P40 Pro 5G smartphones. Leaks and renders have surfaced all over the internet in recent days, showcasing intricate camera setups among highlight features on the devices.
Famed leakster, Ishan Agarwal, shared renders of the Huawei P40 Pro 5G, in particular, revealing a large hump, which houses a “Leica Ultra Vision” quad-camera system, featuring a 50-megapixel main lens, a 40-megapixel secondary lens, a 12-megapixel lens, and a 3D ToF sensor. At least one of the lenses is expected to be a telephoto with 50x SuperSensing Zoom and stabilization. Additionally, its front camera will feature a 32-megapixel lens and a depth sensor.
Other rumored features on the Huawei P40 Pro 5G may include a 6.58-inch curved-edge display, a Kirin 990 chip, enabling 5G, and a 4,200mAh battery with 40W wired fast charging and wireless fast charging between 27W and 40W. Huawei has long detailed that upcoming devices will feature its own Mobile Services software and AppGallery. The brand is unable to use Google apps and services due to the ongoing U.S. ban.
The standard Huawei P40 is slightly truncated with a Leica Ultra Vision triple camera setup, which is expected to include a 50-megapixel lens, a 16-megapixel lens, and an 8-megapixel lens with 30X digital zoom and Huawei XD Fusion Engine for image optimization. The device is set to feature a 6.1-inch display with a punch-hole to house its 32-megapixel front camera.
Other rumored features on the Huawei P40 include a 3,800mAh battery with 40W fast wired charging and 27W wireless charging. There is not much detail on other hardware specs, such as RAM and internal storage for either the Huawei Mate 40 or Mate 40 Pro, despite the series launch being just days away.
There is also word of a Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition, which may feature a penta-camera setup, featuring two zoom lenses. One lens may support 10x optical zoom with a 240mm focal length and the other 3x zoom. Overall, the lenses may include a periscope zoom lens, a regular wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a ToF sensor.
Not much else is known about the Premium Edition model, though another leakser has suggested it may be priced between EUR1199 and EUR1299, while the P40 Pro may sell between EUR999 and EUR1099, and the standard P40 between EUR799 and EUR899.
Prior leaks have revealed that color options for the P40 series may include Mint, Black, Blush Gold, Silver Frost, Deep Sea Blue, and Ice White.
The devices’ launch event is set to take place in Paris; however, it will be broadcasted online only due to Coronavirus bans and quarantines.
