OnePlus has confirmed that its next flagship device will be announced on October 14 at 10 a.m. EDT.
The OnePlus 8T has been the subject of rumors for several weeks, and now will be unveiled in an online event, which will be streamed from the official OnePlus website, forums, and social media channels. Corresponding times include 7 a.m. PST, 3 p.m. BST, 4 p.m. CET, and 7:30 p.m. IST.
OnePlus is allowing fans to sign up for more details and also for a chance to win a OnePlus 8T once the device is available.
The launch confirmation comes not long after major render and specs leaks, which have revealed hardware and design details for the device. Several prospective price leaks have also surfaced, one suggesting the OnePlus 8T may sell at a EUR599 starting price, with a higher spec model selling at EUR699. The other suggests EUR799 and EUR899 prices for the standard and higher-end models.
The OnePlus 8T is set to feature a flat 6.55-inch Full-HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a hole punch in the upper left corner for the selfie camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip (instead of an 865+) enabling 5G, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for the base model, with a 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage model also expected, and a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W Warp Charge.
The render leak showcases a quad-camera set up for the rear, which may include a 48-megapixel main lens, which may be either the Sony IMX586 or the Sony IMX689, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 5-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel portrait lens. The front camera is a 32-megapixel lens.
Other features include a USB-C port, Android 11 software with an OxygenOS 11 overlay, and Aquamarine Green, Lunar Silver. However, the OnePlus 8T is not slated to feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.
There have also been murmurs of a OnePlus 8T Pro model; however, many suggest that OnePlus has scrapped plans for that device.
