“Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds 2 Unveiled at Samsung Unpacked”

Samsung announced several products at its live-streamed product Galaxy Unpacked launch on Wednesday, including the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Buds 2.

The smartwatch and the truly wireless earbuds are taking on some interesting technological advancements while maintaining relatively low prices.

Here’s a rundown of the highlight features announced.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Samsung unveiled Galaxy Watch 4, introducing its new WearOS Powered by Samsung software, which is a blend of Samsung’s Tizen OS and Google’s Wear OS for Galaxy Watch 4. Many app parters include Google Maps, Strava, Swim.com, Adidas Running, Golfbuddy Smart Caddy.

The Galaxy Watch 4 also has a heavy focus on sleep tracking and body composition. The brand notes that from previous Galaxy Watch models, users have checked their sleep patterns over 800 million times and that the addition of tracking blood oxygen levels was a top feature on older models. The Galaxy Watch 4 adds to that feature with tracking for snoring and breathing patterns, to further analyze sleep quality.

Additionally, Samsung is using body composition measurement, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to measure stats including blood pressure and ECG with the Galaxy Watch 4. The feature will be coming to over 30 countries once the smartwatch is available.

In terms of specs, a 1.36-inch AMOLED display, 5nm Samsung Exynos W920 chip, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, Wear OS 3 powered by Samsung, One UI Watch 3, and 5ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810G durability ratings.

The smartwatch comes in two models, a standard Galaxy Watch 4, which will be available in 40mm and 44mm bezel options, and an aluminum case. The 44mm option has a 361mAh battery and the 40mm option has a 247mAh battery. Both support fast charging.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will be available in 42mm and 46mm bezel options and a stainless steel case. The 46mm option has a 361mAh battery and the 42mm option has a 247mAh battery. Both support fast charging.

The Galaxy Watch 4 also supports 4G LTE, allowing for functionality such as streaming Spotify and mapping outdoor exercise routes. Samsung also noted with its One UI Watch interface users are able to navigate with on-screen bezels instead of mechanical bezels, in addition to gesture controls to enact functions such as pausing music.

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which will release on August 27 for $249 and $349 respectively. Some available markets include the U.S., the U.K., South Korea, most countries in Europe, Mexico, Canada, Japan, among others.

Samsug Galaxy Buds 2

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds 2 with active noise canceling as its highlight feature. ANC on the Galaxy Buds 2 has been configured to allow for functionality up to 98 percent.

It works in tandem with battery life on the wireless earbuds, allowing for up to 5 hours battery life with ANC on and 7.5 hours battery with ANC off. The Galaxy Buds 2 case also allows for an additional 20 hours of charging time.

Other features on the Galaxy Buds 2 include its Ambient mode, which allows users to hear their surroundings while still having their earbuds in and even having audio playing. Users can choose from up to three levels of an Ambient mode in settings. Additionally, the Galaxy Buds 2 are designed for advanced call quality, with three microphones and a voice pickup unit, which utilizes machine learning to filter unwanted sounds.

Truly wireless earbuds can connect easily to Samsung devices and can auto switch from various devices, such as smartphones to wearable.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy Buds 2 feature dual 2-way audio drivers with 11mm woofer, 6.3mm tweeters, and 3 microphones (two outer mics and one inner), 61mAh batteries per earbud, and a 472mAh in its case, a USB-C port for charging and Qi wireless charging support, Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Hall, Touch, Voice Pickup Unit sensors, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, IPX7 water resistance, and Graphite, White, Olive, and Lavender color options.

The Galaxy Buds 2 will be available starting August 27, selling for $149.
