“Google Pixel 7 Models Certified for 5G Support”

Rumors about the upcoming Pixel 7 series has surfaced not long after Google has released its official build of the Android 13 operating system to the public.

Details shared by MySmartPrice indicate that four Pixel 7 models have even certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The publication obtained documents, which included model numbers for the devices, GP4BC, GVU6C, GE2AE and GQML3 that indicate their type of 5G connectivity. The first two models are set to support sub-6GHz 5G and the following two mmWave 5G.

Additionally, the GP4BC and GE2AE models are set to support ultra wideband connectivity. Pundits suspect these two models might be Pixel 7 Pro devices, considering Google had a similar roll out for its Pixel 6 series last year. Pixel 6 Pro models were outfitted with ultra wideband connectivity, whole standard Pixel 6 models were not.

If accurate, the model number and connectivity configuration should be as followed, according to AndroidPolice.

  • Pixel 7: GVU6C/G03Z5 — sub-6 5G
  • Pixel 7: GQML3 — mmWave 5G, UWB
  • Pixel 7 Pro: GP4BC — sub-6 5G
  • Pixel 7 Pro: GE2AE/GFE4J — mmWave 5G, UWB

Other connectivity for the Pixel 7 series is expected to include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, NFC and wireless charging. The devices will likely go into mass production with Foxconn manufacturing the smartphone in time for an early October launch. Rumors suggest the series light be available for preorder starting October 6 with sales beginning October 13.

Google confirmed the Pixel 7 series in May, detailing it would feature the upcoming Tensor 2 chip, a triple camera setup for the Pro model, and Android 13. The Pixel 7 Pro is expected to feature a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and brightness over 1,000 nits, while the Pixel 7 display is expected to be 6.3-inches, potentially remaining at a 90Hz refresh rate.

The Pixel 7 Pro camera set up might include a 50-megapixel main lens and a 12-megapixel IMX381 ultra wide lens, plus a possible 48-megapixel lens for telephoto. Meanwhile the Pixel 7 might have dual main and ultra wide lenses for its camera setup.

Color-wise, Google showcased Obsidian and Snow during its preview of the series. Additional color options are set for the devices, including a yellow Lemongrass color for the Pixel 7 and a green Hazel for the Pixel 7 Pro.
