The upcoming Galaxy 23 Ultra is expected to feature an elaborate 200-megapixel camera and that lens has the potential to be a major upgrade from the 108-megapixel sensors Samsung has been using for recent generations.

Tech leakster, Ice Universe shared images on the social media platform Weibo, via (Galaxy Club) that they claim were captured from the 200-megapixel lens of a Galaxy 23 Ultra model versus a 108-megapixel lens of an older Samsung device. The image clearly shows a sharper and more detailed shot of the Galaxy 23 Ultra camera compared to the 108-megapixel camera, which the informant said will benefit from “unparalleled computational skills” to improve the overall quality of photos taken by the smartphone.

Not much is known about the 200-megapixel camera that will be featured on the Galaxy 23 Ultra; however, rumors suggest Samsung might outfit the camera with a yet to be released ISOCELL HP2 lens that would have flagship features specifically for the device. Samsung recently announced a new 200-megapixel ISOCELL HPX lens, which is already been featured on the Xiaomi 12T series and Redmi Note 12. However, the makeup of this lens has relegated it to devices exclusively for devices for the Chinese market.

Samsung also has the ISOCELL HP3, which was released earlier this year, and the ISOCELL HP1 lens, released last year. Samsung is known for testing out lenses that will eventually be seen on flagship devices on other smartphones, and the ISOCELL HP1 has notably been seen on a number of products, including the Motorola Moto X30 Pro, Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, and Xiaomi 12T Pro, so there is no telling which lens the Galaxy 23 Ultra will ultimately feature.

Ice Universe also shared other details about the Galaxy 23 Ultra camera, such as its setup might see no changes in its 3x and 10x telephoto zoom lenses; however, Samsung might include color improvements and “some AI algorithms” to update the cameras.
