“Samsung Unpacked will unveil Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Fold 2 on February 11”

Samsung has confirmed that it will host its next Unpacked event on February 11 in San Fransisco at 11 a.m. PST. While there have been countless rumors circulating about what Samsung plans to unveil for its spring lineup, the release date pretty much locks in that we will soon see for the latest flagship series from the Korean brand. Samsung is also expected to showcase its second-generation foldable during the launch event.

For some time, leaks and rumors have alluded to the Galaxy S11 is the next Samsung smartphone; however, recent details suggest the manufacturer may rebrand its flagship line to be called the Galaxy S20. This is a very interesting turn, considering Apple’s latest flagship is the iPhone 11. If true, Samsung will have taken a page from Huawei’s playbook. Current rumors suggest the Chinese manufacturer may soon announce the Huawei P40.

Outside of its name, rumored specs for Samsung’s upcoming flagships likely remain the same. Some highlight features expected include a 108-megapixel camera, a 5,000-mAh battery, and 5G connectivity. The device series is expected to include a standard model, a Plus model, and an e model.

The upcoming foldable will likely be called the Galaxy Fold 2. Several leaks hint at the device being a clamshell-style foldable, similar to the Motorola Moto Razr, rather than a booklet-style foldable like to the original Galaxy Fold.

This is the second year that Samsung has opted to host a standalone event for its spring launch, ahead of the Mobile World Congress tech conference in Barcelona. Samsung has used this strategy to have its new devices already available for showcasing. The manufacturer may then use MWC 2020 to unveil or discuss other developments it has for the year.

Outside of smartphones, there are suggestions that Samsung could announce a new set of Galaxy Buds+ at the Unpacked event. Some are also pondering whether Samsung’s well event officially releases its Galaxy Home smart speaker to the market, which was originally announced in 2017 alongside the Galaxy Note 8. The product continues to make appearances at Samsung launch events and conference showcases but had yet to make it into the hands of consumers.
