“Samsung Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Z Flip are the latest mobile darlings”

Samsung’s Spring 2020 device lineup is now official and includes the Galaxy Z Flip, the Galaxy S20 series, and the Galaxy Buds Plus. The Korean manufacturer announced its new devices Tuesday in San Fransisco and many of the products will be available to the market in a manner of days and weeks. Here’s a rundown of Samsung’s latest product family.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

The Galaxy Z Flip is Samsung’s clamshell-style foldable smartphone, and essentially the second generation of the brand’s flexible display handsets. The handset is basically a standard slate smartphone that folds in half. Its display is 6.7-inches flat with a minimal bezel. The AMOLED display is protected by an Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) of Samsung’s invention that it claims can support up to 200,000 folds. The Z Flip is also the brand’s first foldable to feature a hole-punch camera in its display.

When closed, the Galaxy Z Flip shows off Mirror Purple, Mirror Plack, Mirror Gold color options. There is also a teeny outer display for notifications and other minimal content. However, the Galaxy Z Flip has its own unique features that could very well be a step up from the Galaxy Fold. It has a free stop hinge and a “Flex Mode” that allows it to open like a laptop. When in this mode the display separated into an upper viewing area and a lower interaction area that can be used for typing and other input. Users will be able to prop the Galaxy Z Flip-up for functions, such as video chat and posing for hands-free selfies. With a camera on the outer shell, they will also be able to take selfies even then the device is closed.

Other interesting features include its “Night Hyper Lapse mode,” which captures not only night mode shots, but also time-lapse videos enhanced for dark settings. The Galaxy Z Flip also comes with a free YouTube Premium subscription, which also features content specific to the foldable.
