The Galaxy S21 series may include 65W charging if a recent leak is to be believed. The tech blog, GalaxyClub uncovered a 3C certification for a fast charger associated with the Samsung model number EP-TA865. This has lead many to believe that the charger could be for an upcoming Samsung flagship smartphone, such as the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, or Galaxy S21 Ultra.
While unconfirmed, there is other considerable evidence of the charging standard being for an upcoming smartphone. In 2019, the EP-TA845 model number leaked for a 45W fast charger ahead of the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 Plus, which features this charging standard as an optional accessory.
Pundits note that Samsung has not completely committed to higher capacities of fast charging. Currently, all of its most recent devices power 25W fast charging, including the recently launched Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy S20 FE. At this point, many pundits consider 65W charging as a standard that could be excessive and could lead to easy deterioration of smartphone batteries. It is likely that the manufacturer would first introduce 45W fast charging across its major product lines before considering 65W charging.
That of course, does not stop Samsung from working on technologies well ahead of time. One possibility could be 45W fast charging as the updated standard with 65W charging as an alternate option on more premium models. A 65W could easily be another optional accessory, much likely the fast charger recently announced by the Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi, as power support, not only for smartphones but electronics including laptops and game consoles. GalaxyClub also noted that a 65W charger could be a “nice gadget so that PR can say that the South Koreans are not lagging behind.”

Meanwhile, other 3C certification leaks hint at battery capacity details for the Galaxy S21 series. They indicate a potential 3,880 mAh battery for the Galaxy S21 and a 4,660 mAh battery for the Galaxy S21 Plus. The capacities listed in certifications are often the “rating” for the battery, used internally, while the capacity often marketed to the public is called the “typical battery.”
Many, have assumed the Galaxy S21 Plus might have a typical battery capacity around 5,000mAh; however, there are new reports and leaks suggesting a 4,800mah typical battery for the device.
Another, more recent leak showcases a battery capacity is rated at 4,885mAh, which could be for the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This model, in turn, could potentially have the 5,000mAh typical battery.
The less discussed Galaxy S21 standard model could potentially have a typical battery of about 4,000mAh.
Other Samsung Galaxy S21 rumors
These details, of course, are not confirmed and may not until the Galaxy S21 series is unveiled, which will likely be sometime in February 2021. So far, rumors suggest that the Galaxy S21 codename is “Unbound” and that the different variants are M1, N2, and O3.
The devices may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chip or Samsung Exynos 2100 chip depending on the region. The Galaxy S21 Ultra, in particular, may include S-Pen stylus support like devices in the Galaxy Note family and a camera set up with a 108-megapixel main camera and two telephoto lenses.
