“US launch announced for Verizon-exclusive TCL 10 5G UW”

The TCL 10 series has been the brand’s highlight for most of 2020. Now its 5G model is making its way to the U.S. as a sub-$500 Verizon exclusive.

The TCL 10 5G UW will be available beginning October 29, selling for $399.99 in a Diamond Gray color option. The device has quickly undercut the Samsung Galaxy A51 5G UW as Verizon’s cheapest 5G smartphone. That device released in August selling for $549.99.

The TCL 10 5G UW is yet another device showcasing the prowess of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip, which launched as one of the first 5G component options for mid-range devices. The smartphone market in 2020 has had an interesting focus on showcasing devices with next-generation connectivity that don’t have eye-watering pricetags. Before the introduction of this chip, many expected 5G would be synonymous with thousand-dollar super flagship models. While several brands have taken liberty throughout the year to unveil various Pro Plus and Ultra smartphone models they have surprisingly embraced the idea of products with hardware that is very near the power of the premium tier at a fraction of the cost.

The TCL 10 series, including the TCL 10 5G has been making rounds since first being teased in January. The international TCL 10 5G was officially announced in April and released in July. The launch of the TCL 10 5G UW model, notably coincides with Verizon’s recent launch of its 5G ultra-wideband network.

Other specs for the TCL 10 5G UW include a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with NXTVISION technology to provide true-to-life color, clarity, and contrast, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 256GB, and a 4,500 mAh battery supporting Qualcomm Quick Charge, which allows for 50 percent charge in just over a half-hour, as well as reverse charging. It also includes Android 10 software with a TCL UI overlay and a guarantee of at least one major OS update and two years of quarterly security patches.

Camera-wise, the TCL 10 5G UW features a triple-lens set up with a 48-megapixel main shooter, an 8-megapixel 118-degree super-wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. It also features a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The TCL 10 5G UW also includes a rear fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and a 3.5mm audio jack among notable features.
