The fall smartphone launch season continues with Xiaomi announcing its latest device on October 25. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is expected to release with 5G internet support and 10GB RAM among its main features, according to details shared to the Chinese social media platform, Weibo.
The device may be the first to market with a 10GB RAM ram capacity. Xiaomi is also in the race to have a 5G smartphone available for consumers. Chinese manufacturers have completed successful 5G signal tests on devices such as the OPPO R15; however, there has yet to be a device released with 5G readily available.
Motorola released the Moto Z3 was announced in August as the first 5G phone in the U.S., but the 5G Moto Mod that would give the device its high-powered internet won’t be available until 2019. Even if the Mi Mix 3 is 5G compatible, Xiaomi won’t have details about whether the device will run 5G out of the box until its unveiling.

Videos leaks have shown the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 with a thin-bezel display and an up sliding camera, similar to the Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X. However, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 camera is likely a panel that slides up from the back of the phone rather than a section that pops up from within the phone. The device may also include AI improvements and a dedicated assistant button, similar to Samsung’s Bixby button.
Not much else is known about the device at this time; however, with the expected specifications alone, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will surely be priced at a premium level.
Though the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is now on sale in the U.S., the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 likely won’t have such availability. With the race to 5G steep, especially between the U.S. and China, it may be safe to say that Chinese consumers may get first and exclusive dibs at the upcoming device.
