Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S22 series are shaping an early look at the devices, which will likely include the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Recent reports from GalaxyClub have revealed prospective battery capacities for the Galaxy S22 models and suggest the standard Galaxy S22, in particular, could see a capacity downgrade from the prior Galaxy S21.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Battery Rumors
The publication claims, the Galaxy S22 may feature a 3,590mAh battery, after connecting it with the model number EB-BS901ABY. In comparison, the Galaxy S21 did feature a 3,880 mAh battery, which was advertised as a 4000mAh cell. Meanwhile, the rumors peg the Galaxy S22 Plus’ battery at 4500mAh and the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s battery at 4800mAh.
While no details have been confirmed, many speculate that Samsung could make such moves for ecological and battery optimization reasons. The brand has been marketing its Eco^2OLED display on other devices, and the screen could similarly be coming to the Galaxy S22 series. Pundits expect Samsung could pair the smaller battery with 45W fast-charging to maintain the air of a premium device, as the other models may have a similar fast-charging ability or higher.
Overall, a smaller battery capacity could be a way to keep production costs of the Galaxy S22 entry-level model low, and in turn its market cost as well. There is no doubt that Samsung remains plagued by the supply chain issues that developed due to the pandemic.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Camera Rumors
Other rumors indicate that Samsung may use the recently announced 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN5 image sensor on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 models as their main camera lenses. These details came from popular Twitter leakster IceUniverse, who did not have any information about the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, the industry has largely accepted that this model will likely feature a 108-megapixel main camera lens. Samsung also recently announced a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP1 lens, but this component is not yet ready for prime time on devices as the brand is now sending samples to manufacturing partners. Meanwhile, other manufacturers have already released devices to market with Samsung’s 50-megapixel lenses.
For the front camera, IceUniverse claims that the Galaxy S22 series will release without an under-display camera design. While Samsung introduced the feature for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in August, the standard smartphones are more likely to have hole-punch front camera designs, much like their most recent predecessors. The biggest question will likely be whether the front camera will be located in the top center of the display or the left or right corners.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Processor Rumors
As is customary, reports suggest that the Galaxy S22 series might run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chip in more Western markets and the Exynos 2200 chip in more international markets. However, there is word that the mobile carrier, Verizon in the U.S. is vying to get models of the Galaxy S22 series with the Exynos 2200 chip.
