“Samsung Galaxy Note 9 leaks hit social media en masse”

We may have gotten our first glimpse of the Galaxy Note 9 in the wild, courtesy of Samsung mobile head, DJ Koh, who was recently photographed handling a smartphone with a stylus. While the device looks very similar to the current Galaxy Note 8, leaksters and tech blogs have noted that the handset features its rear fingerprint scanner below the camera module. This differentiates it from the Galaxy Note 8, which features its fingerprint scanner to the right of its camera module.

It makes sense that the Galaxy Note 9 would have a new placement for its fingerprint scanner as Samsung moved the sensor to below the camera module on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S+. Consumers previously complained that the fingerprint scanner placement to the right of the camera module on the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 was cumbersome to access.

Koh presented at an industry event in China Monday, where he mentioned the Galaxy Note 9. The device is no secret as Samsung has already announced its launch event will take place on August 9. Marketing images for the Unpacked event suggest the device will have an emphasis on its S-Pen stylus, as does an FCC certification which hints the stylus may have Bluetooth connectivity.

Since this leak, several other images have surfaced with claims of showing off the Galaxy Note 9 design. Twitter leakster @UniverseIce shared another live image, which could potentially be the Galaxy Note 9, while Evan Blass aka @evleaks shared a render, which is similar to the Galaxy Note 9 images Samsung has shared on marketing material for its Unpacked launch event.

In addition to new S-Pen features, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch display, a thinner lower bezel, stereo speakers similar to the Galaxy Note 9 and a 4,000mAh battery. The device will also likely see processor, camera, and software upgrades. Reports indicate the Galaxy Note 9 may go on sale August 24.
