“Samsung Galaxy S11 camera ready for testing as multiple spec rumors surface”

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has been on the market for about a month but there are already several reports surfacing about the manufacturers’ next flagship, which will likely be the Galaxy S11. As can be expected, the 2020 device will likely have continued camera and processing upgrades, if the latest rumors are to be believed.

Samsung is expected to collaborate with the test socket manufacturer, MecaTech Systems to evaluate a new periscopic camera for the Galaxy S11 before it’s ready for manufacturing to market, according to the Korean publication, TheElec. If accurate, this testing phase will allow Samsung to select the ideal optical sensors for the camera of its next flagship.

Reports already indicate that Samsung plans to outfit the Galaxy S11 camera with 5x optical zoom, which would be a major improvement from the 2x to 3x zoom the manufacturer has maintained on recent devices. Increased zoom is also among the recent smartphone camera trends.

While far fetched, there are rumors Samsung could use the 108-megapixel ISOCELL Bright HMX lens for the Galaxy S11 main camera. Samsung typically uses 12-megapixel lenses on its flagships, however, a larger sensor could potentially bring more attention to the S11 at a time when even Apple has employed a triple camera set up on its latest iPhone 11. The Bright HMX was developed by Samsung for Xiaomi, which could just be an indication of the manufacturers’ component prowess and not necessarily feature that may make it on to a Galaxy smartphone.

There are also rumors that the Galaxy S11 camera could enable a spectrometer feature, which could allow for functions including determining the calorie content of food and the alcohol content in drinks. It could also enable additional health-tracking features that are often found on devices that have heart rate monitors.

While many reports are still in the early phases there are a decent amount of potential details circulating about the Galaxy S11. There are reports that Samsung plans to release the Galaxy S11 ahead of Mobile World Congress, more particularly, during the third week of February. This is likely considering the Galaxy S10 also released ahead of MWC this year, in a standalone event in California on February 20. The new flagships were later showcased at Mobile World Congress, along with a slight preview of the Galaxy Fold. Whether Samsung will announce another foldable during this time is known, but there have also been reports that the manufacturer has future flexible display smartphones in its pipeline. The current suspected launch date for the Galaxy S11 is February 18.

Some other prospective specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, which will likely be for Western markets, and the Samsung Exynos 9830 chip for many international markets. The smartphone may also feature 8GB of RAM, up to 1TB of internal storage, and Android 10 with the latest Samsung One UI 2.1.

The Galaxy S11 will likely feature a hole-punch display to house it’s front-facing camera; however, the device likely won’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack.
