“Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4 to be Joined by Rollable Smartphone for 2022 Launch”

Samsung might have a huge family of foldable devices to announce later this year, according to the current rumors.

Most recently, tech informant, Ice Universe claims that the brand’s upcoming headlining foldables, likely the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are slated to run a new chip by the semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. According to the leakster, the chip will run on a 4nm process and will be manufactured by the TSMC foundry. The details are few but the source is confident in their accuracy.

The foldable is also expected to have an S-Pen with the same 2.8ms latency speed and the stylus that comes with the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, according to Twitter leakster, TheGalox.

Meanwhile, other reports suggest that Samsung plans to launch a third device, codenamed Diamond, which might have a form factor not yet attempted by the Korean manufacturer. If the rumors are accurate, the third device might have a rollable design, similar to the Oppo X 2021 rollable concept that the brand showcased in late 2020. GSMArena noted that while the brand revealed its prototype, a market-ready product has yet to be unveiled.

However, prior details from the Dutch publication Galaxy Club suggest that Samsung’s rollable could be pretty far along in the company’s release pipeline. The publication discovered three more codenames, B4, Q4, and N4, which are supposedly associated with Samsung foldables. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which were released last year, were codenamed B3 and Q3. This leaves the final N4 codename potentially for the currently unnamed foldable device.

The rollable might also be Samsung’s highlight device among the three, with reports that the brand does not plan to manufacture a large number of Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 models at launch. Samsung might really be looking to expand its foldable family after several generations of similar designs. Despite bringing many updates to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was the standout new product. Samsung might have a similar plan for the upcoming launch cycle and the rollable device.

Some publications noted Samsung commenting on a social media post made by Oppo and OnePlus Global Communications team member, Ryan Fenwick discussing the Oppo Find N. It’s a challenge to say what the meaning behind the social media communication might be, but given the timing, pundits are sure to clock this as some sort of hint or easter egg.
